On Friday 26 June, much of the Wellers team will be swapping tax returns, business plans, annual accounts, and client meetings for walking boots.
As part of our annual community day, we'll be taking part in Laps of Ambition, a fundraising challenge in support of Oxfordshire Youth.
It's a day that matters to us. It's also a day when our availability will be more limited than usual, so we wanted to explain exactly what we're doing, why we're doing it, and why we feel this cause is worth supporting.
Having spent a lot of time working with entrepreneurs, business owners, and investors we've noticed something.
You'll probably agree, success often requires far more than just talent alone.
Behind almost every successful founder, business owner, or professional is somebody who gave them an opportunity. A mentor. A teacher. A first employer. A family member. Someone who opened that important first door.
Unfortunately the issue is not every young person benefits from those opportunities!
That's where Oxfordshire Youth comes in.
The charity works with young people across Oxfordshire to help them build confidence, develop practical skills, and access opportunities that can change the direction of their lives. Their work tackles challenges including:
Their mantra is that we all have an obligation to do our bit to create opportunities where opportunities might otherwise not exist.
We feel that's really important and definitely worth supporting.
At our firm, our business is all about helping folks achieve their ambitions.
Whether we're advising start-up founders in launching their new venture, supporting a growing business in the next phase of expansion, or mentoring a family business to make better informed decisions to prepare for succession, our work is about helping people build a better future.
That's why the message of this year's charity resonated so strongly with us.
After all, where a young person starts in life shouldn't determine where they finish. Talent can come from anywhere and we believe opportunity should too.
On Friday 26 June, the teams at Wellers will take on multiple laps around Virginia Water as part of the Laps of Ambition challenge.
Over the course of the day, we'll be aiming to raise funds for Oxfordshire Youth while spending time together outside our usual working environment.
It's a sufficiently challenging task that's going to require plenty of determination, will entail a few sore feet, and a lot of fundraising along the way.
A significant number of our team will be taking part in the event, this means our response times on Friday 26 June 2026 are likely to be slower than usual.
We'll continue to monitor urgent matters where necessary, but we'd appreciate your patience as our people dedicate the day to supporting this fantastic cause.
Normal service will resume the following week.
Our fundraising target this year is £3,500.
Every donation, regardless of size, will go directly towards helping Oxfordshire Youth continue its work supporting young people across the county.
If you'd like to support the challenge, we'd be incredibly grateful.
More importantly, the young people who benefit from Oxfordshire Youth's work will be too.
Thank you for your support, and wish us luck for the many miles ahead.
