Why you need to prepare now for the new national living wage

Jasmine Brook 11/12/2015 2 minute read

Jasmine Brook explores what employers need to do with the onset of the national living wage in 2016.

As of 1 April 2016 the new living wage takes effect in law following the changes announced in the Emergency Budget 2015. For employers that means you'll need to be paying your employees the new rates from that date. Failure to do so will result in the same severe penalties as currently enforced through the minimum wage.

All workers aged 25 and over (full time and part time) will be legally entitled to a minimum of £7.20 per hour, so the time to start preparing your payroll is now. Here's a short video detailing what you need to do to be ready for this important change.
